Abu Dhabi by night, part 3 - updated

With the ending of winter, the nights remain cool  and the humidity and haze levels low enough, some great opportunities still exist to take the camera for a walk after dark. 2 nights ago, we went for a walk down to the Corniche, rather later than usual, to find an exceptionally clear, calm night. The reflections off the water were magic but of course no camera!
Last night was calm and clear too but this time a gentle breeze off The Gulf ruffled the water so no reflections to photograph. However the following is a selection of photos and some compensation for the missed opportunity the night before.
All photos following were taken using a Canon 450D with an EF-S 17-85 mm lens. Manual focus  is the only way to go here. I am also into using the AEB function on the camera and take 3 frames of each shot. I've added details of each shot to give an indication of what worked best. A good sturdy tripod and pan head were vital when these shots were taken last night.

A good tripod comes in handy here for these 2 shots. I wanted a good depth of field and long exposure to show the busy traffic along The Corniche. The concrete truck in the first photo shows that the construction industry still goes on 24 hours a day although there are not as many of them on the roads at night now.

The tall buildings in the background have just been finished and are being let now.

Another view along the Corniche

Shot details: Focal length 35mm, ISO-200, f/5 (AEB - ), 2.5s
The traffic along 4th Street moves quite quickly.

I hope you enjoyed this selection of photos in my latest Abu Dhabi by night series.

Next stop is Zanzibar, tomorrow. On Saturday we head to Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti before heading back to Zanzibar.

Watch this blog for hopefully some great shots of predators, birds, elephants and the remaining two of the Big Five (leopard and rhino) we didn't see last time when in Tanzania 2 years ago.
